I'm a photographer and graphic designer based in Chorley, Lancashire, UK. My main interest lies in teaching and research within digital imaging: photography and graphics - I currently lecture part time at The University of Bolton.
Previously I was one half of Washington Ryan Ltd, a small but creative visual communications company that supplied public and private organisations with solutions in print, digital media and photography.
This web site provides me with an outlet to publish and exhibit my photography and other creative work. The site consists of a frequently updated photoblog, and a section used to display projects or assignments that have been completed or are in progress. Project galleries will contain photos that may not be present on the photoblog. I have formed the opinion that photoblogs are perhaps not the best method for presenting project based work, and so over time work will be updated when appropriate to do so.
I maintain an open mind about the work I produce, and experiment as much as possible. This maybe because my artistic background consists of many disciplines such as drawing and graphics. In reality I have come to accept that I will most likely move in and out of the 'labels' attached to photographic output and as such I prefer to believe that my work would be successful in many contexts.
Credit where credits due
Djn from chromasia. Dave has helped out tremendously with some rather technical issues and generally provides a listening ear to my ramblings about the visual arts. Dave isn't a bad photographer either and provides some inexpensive, but fantastic online tutorials on his website Click here to visit Photoshop tutorials by chromasia !!!
Richard of pixyBlog who sponsors this site. He is a technical expert and generally does things with computers and code that make me very envious.
Julie Brown and all the staff who support me at The University of Bolton for providing opportunities to teach the subjects I'm passionate about.
Blaming the tools
I shoot with either a Canon 1DS or a Leica M8 (50mm f1.0 Noctilux or 50mm f2.0 Summicron). I have a fine selection of Canon L Series lenses, the favourite being a 35mm f1.4. I run a Dual 2Ghz G5 Apple Mac with a two monitor setup, and I use all the usual industry standard software such as Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator.
I have had to remove my address due to an encounter with fraud. I can however be contacted by telephone or email
